HOW TO COOK BACON IN THE OVEN

LOVE BACON? HATE BACON GREASE MESS?

Cooking bacon in the oven will give you everything you want: yummy bacon without the greasy splatter mess that always ends up on the stove, counter and back splash!

First of all, realize that if you get bacon from a butcher or bacon packaged from the store, the cooking time will vary. Thicker bacon generally takes about 30 minutes, sometimes a little longer, whereas thinly sliced bacon is usually done in about 20 minutes.

HOW TO COOK BACON IN THE OVEN

1. Preheat oven to 350°.

2. Lay your bacon in either two 9×13 glass baking dishes or on a cookie sheet. It’s okay if the bacon touches, since it will shrink once it starts to cook.

3. Place in oven and set timer for 15 minutes. I like to check after about 15 minutes of cooking– because no one likes burnt bacon.

4. Check the bacon every 5 minutes until it has reached your desired done-ness, since this is America, and everything is relative, ya know.

5. Once finished, lay your bacon on some paper towels to soak up the grease.

6. Allow the grease in pans to cool for about 5-10 minutes. Then, pour said grease into a glass jar, cover and store in refrigerator for later use. (NOTE: Strain out the bacon bits if you aren’t going to use right away so it will keep longer).

And there ya go folks…bacon. Without the mess!

In the famous words of Spock: live long and prosper…and bacon on.
